“images are powerful, they preserve precious moments, they are tools to carry one’s thoughts back to what our senses felt, heard, saw, taste, and smell when those images were taken.”
“photography is more than just an art of capturing images, it’s our attempts to momentarily pause the flow of time”
“wedding is an intimate moments, it is a story of a sacred, romantic, and fun experience of two people in love. It is totally remarkable, one of the greatest celebration in one’s life”.
Those are the three quotes from Yos when he thinks about his wedding photography and photography in general.
One might wonder if Yos has a degree or a certification in photography, and the answer is: Not really. Although he never had a formal lessons in photography, Yos diligently learn to improve his art from other various sources. Yos philosophy of learning is more toward self-taught and self-mastery by doing his homework and a lot of practice.
History of Yos Photography:
Yos started taking pictures when he was 10 years old with an olympus film SLR he found in his dad’s collection of junks. Unfortunately, his development of “the art of seeing” is abruptly halted by his mother who said that at that time, they can’t afford the expensive films for little Yos (and the sub-par result certainly doesn’t help). In 2002, Yos finally get back into photography after getting his hand on one of the first full-manual digital camera, a Sony DSC-F707.
In 2005, Yos was asked to cover weddings as a second shooter for a great wedding photographer (his close friend), Harry of Harryphoto in Dallas, TX.
Not long after that, Yos started his own wedding photography service, serving Greater Pittsburgh area.
Yos also work fulltime for a Christian book Publisher/Distributor as their Systems Analyst. He has been with the same company since 1998.
